School History
Mae Hensley Junior High School was built in 1972 and opened in 1973. There are thirty-two permanent classrooms, a library, locker and shower facilities, a gym, a cafeteria/multi-purpose room with an indoor-outdoor stage and an administration office. The facilities include a track, football field, two large playing fields, nine basketball courts, and a large blacktop area. We have added seven portable classrooms to accommodate growth.

School Colors:
Mae Hensley's school colors are RED and WHITE

Mae Hensley is located in Ceres, California, in the middle of California's Central Valley. We are about half-way between San Francisco and Yosemite National Park. The Central Valley is a very productive agricultural region, and it is appropriate that our city is named for Ceres, the Roman Goddess of Agriculture.

Mission Statement:
The faculty has developed the following mission statement that describes our vision for the work at Mae Hensley:
"Focus On Learning Every Day."

PTSA: We seek to involve our parents and community in our educational efforts. Our PTSA meets once a month and provides special activities and events for students as well as serving as a forum for parents to know what is happening at their school and provide feedback to us. Please contact the Mae Hensley Office if you are interested in becoming a PTSA member or officer.

School Site Council:
Our School Site Council (SSC) is composed of parents, teachers, and students. The SSC meets six times a year to review our School Improvement Plan, provide us with suggestions for future directions and to oversee the school improvement process. Both the PTSA and the SSC are open to all parents and we strongly encourage as many as possible to participate.
